Sopot is a cheerful seaside town just 12km from Gdansk and is one of Poland’s premier summer sun destinations. More a Polish Southend than a Thorpeness, what Sopot lacks in terms of refinement it makes up for with its sandy beach and choice of amusements.

Access to Sopot from Gdansk is easy with regular trains connecting the two places.

If you fancy a change of scene from Sopot you could always go to Hel! Hel is a Polish fishing village with a lovely unspoilt beach. Hel is popular for windsurfing and is another popular Polish beach resort.

There are an assortment of seaside towns along the Baltic Coast and choices include Leba, Ustka, Darlowo, Kolobrezeg, Mizdzyzdroje and Swinoujscie.
